I recently had the absolute honor of photographing my friend Jennifer’s wedding to Todd. Jennifer was just beyond ecstatic in the days leading up to the wedding. Having met with her and Todd earlier in the year to talk about their wedding photography, it was obvious that these two are absolutely perfect for each other. It seriously seemed like each Facebook entry leading up to their wedding was full of mushiness, happiness and their excitement for their wedding day. It makes me so happy to know that my friend has found her perfect soulmate.
The day started at SS. John and Paul Parish in Washington Township. Holy smokes, was it ever cold! It’s almost January as I write this and I still think that their wedding day in November was the coldest day that we have had this winter. Todd and Jennifer arrived at the church almost, but not quite, at the same time. Guests were arriving and Jennifer was hidden as quickly as possible so that Todd wouldn’t see her beforehand. Their ceremony was beautiful and although the ring bearers may not have cooperated (hey, they’re kids-that’s what makes it so darn cute!) the rest of the ceremony went off without a hitch. Afterwards we took some family formal photos, signed the marriage licenses and headed out.
Todd, Jennifer and the gang headed out to the Hamlin Pub for a bit before heading to the reception for photographs. Yeah…Thank goodness they did! I was heading over to Twin Lakes to get detail and setup photographs and low and behold, I got a flat tire. Awesome. Seriously awesome. Did I mention that it was the coldest day of the year, or so it seemed to me? Yeah. Thankfully I had Paul (my hubby) along as my assistant that day because we were planning on partying with everyone after we were done photographing the reception since we were friends with them. Since he is such a wonderful husband, he graciously (like he had a choice) changed my tire on the side of the road and before I knew it, we were back on our way to the reception!
Their reception was at Twin Lakes Golf Club in Oakland Township. If you haven’t been here and enjoy golfing, it’s a beautiful golf/swim club and they do an excellent job hosting weddings and receptions. Once the bridal party arrived, we took turns going outside to shoot outdoor photos since it was just too cold to be outside for more than a few minutes at a time. We took some additional indoor photos and before we knew it, the guests were arriving! Dinner was delicious and Todd and Jennifer cut their cupcake (yes, not a cake!) from the ridiculously delicious Taste Love Cupcakes in Royal Oak. If you haven’t tried their cupcakes, I definitely recommend it. It’s heaven. I promise. Afterwards they danced their first dance as husband and wife and then the dancing went full force. Practically everyone was out on the dance floor at one point or another and I think it’s safe to say that an awesome time was had by everyone!
I am so happy to have been a part of Todd and Jennifer’s wedding day and am so thankful to call them friends. Congratulations you two. Love you both and wish you nothing but the very best!! xoxo
